Leiden Probe Microscopy, VSParticle, Leiden University, and ANION will develop new electrochemical microscope

In this project subsidized by Kansen voor West and the European Union, Leiden Probe Microscopy, VSParticle, and Leiden University will develop a next-generation Electrochemical Scanning Tunneling Microscope (EC-STM) to advance our understanding of electrocatalytic processes at the nanoscale. From the side of Leiden University, the project is co-funded by ANION, the Advanced Nano-electrochemistry Institute Of the Netherlands.

The new EC-STM will enable researchers to probe catalytic activity at the nanoparticle level, offering unprecedented insights into how nanomaterials behave and evolve under operating conditions. Bridging the gap between ideal laboratory samples and application-oriented catalysts is essential for designing, validating and deploying new materials.
