ANION Symposium Showcases Collaboration and Community

On 31 October 2025, the second annual ANION Symposium brought together around 80 researchers from across the Netherlands at the WCW Congress Center and AMOLF in Amsterdam. The one-day event celebrated the growing ANION community and highlighted the breadth of research taking place across the consortium’s partner institutes.

Co-organised by AMOLF and the University of Amsterdam, the symposium offered a full day of scientific exchange, featuring talks from ANION researchers representing all partner institutions. The programme included a mix of talks from scientists at all career stages, and a lively poster session, providing a platform for sharing new ideas and exploring future collaborations.

A highlight of the event was the keynote lecture by Prof. Huib Bakker (AMOLF), who discussed recent insights into water orientation and ion effects at charged interfaces. In addition, early-career researchers such as Rik Kort (ULEI), and Dr. Luuk Kortekaas (RUG) contributed with talks showcasing exciting new results within the field of nanoelectrochemistry.

The afternoon poster session, held at AMOLF, was well attended with plenty of discussion and networking, as participants shared their latest findings and explored opportunities for collaboration.
