Research activities
The research of Frank de Groot focuses on the theoretical and experimental aspects of X-ray spectroscopy. The CTM4XAS program has been written for the simulation of X-ray spectroscopy and an overview of X-ray spectroscopy is described in the book Core Level Spectroscopy of Solids. Currently, the research focuses mainly on resonant inelastic X-ray scattering (RIXS), which e.g. makes magnetic transitions visible. The application of X-ray spectroscopy focuses on the study of the electronic and magnetic structure of condensed matter, in particular the investigation of transition metal oxides, for example thin oxide layers under working (photo) (electro) catalytic conditions.
